Band of Horses� sixth album and first record in more than five years. �Sonically, the album is a return to their earlier work and the kind of raw ethos that lies at the heart of Band of Horses. Emotionally intense, both on a personal and elemental level, on�Things Are Great�we find band founder Ben Bridwell more autobiographical than he�s ever been on record detailing the nebulous frustrations and quiet indignities of relationship changes and what a person will do to make things right.

Beach House is Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally. We have been a band for over a decade, living and working in Baltimore, MD. Depression Cherry is our 5th full-length record. This record follows the release of our self-titled album in 2006, Devotion in 2008, Teen Dream in 2010 and Bloom in 2012. Depression Cherry was recorded at Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana from November �14 through January �15. This time period crossed the anniversaries of both John Lennon�s and Roy Orbison�s death. In general, this record shows a return to simplicity, with songs structured around a melody and a few instruments, with live drums playing a far lesser role.

Once Twice Melody is the 8th studio album by Beach House. It is a double�album, featuring 18 songs presented in 4 chapters. Across these songs,�many types of style and song structures can be heard. Songs without drums,�songs centered around acoustic guitar, mostly electronic songs with no�guitar, wandering and repetitive melodies, songs built around the string�sections. In addition to new sounds, many of the drum machines, organs,�keyboards and tones that listeners may associate with previous Beach
House records remain present throughout many of the compositions.

Beach House is Victoria Legrand, lead singer and multi-instrumentalist, and�Alex Scally, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. They write all of their songs�together. Once Twice Melody is the first album produced entirely by the�band. The live drums are by James Barone (same as their 2018 album, 7),�and were recorded at Pachyderm studio in Minnesota and United Studio in�Los Angeles. For the first time, a live string ensemble was used. Strings were�arranged by David Campbell.

The writing and recording of Once Twice Melody began in 2018 and was�completed in July of 2021. Most of the songs were created during this time,�though a few date back over the previous 10 years. Most of the recording was�done at Apple Orchard Studio in Baltimore. Once Twice Melody was mixed�largely by Alan Moulder but a few tracks were also mixed by Caesar�Edmunds, Trevor Spencer, and Dave Fridmann.

Since the band's inception in 1992, Built to Spill founder Doug Martsch intended his beloved band to be a collaborative project, an ever-evolving group of musicians making music and playing live together. "I wanted to switch the lineup for many reasons. Each time we finish a record I want the next one to sound totally different. It's fun to play with people who bring in new styles and ideas, " says Martsch. "And it's nice to be in a band with people who aren't sick of me yet." Following several albums and EPs on Pacific Northwest independent labels, including the indie-rock classic, There's Nothing Wrong With Love, released on Sub Pop offshoot Up Records in 1994, Martsch signed with Warner Brothers from 1995 to 2016. He and his rotating cast of cohorts recorded six more great albums during that time - Perfect From Now On, Keep It Like a Secret, Ancient Melodies of the Future, You In Reverse, Untethered Moon, There Is No Enemy. There was also a live album, and a solo record, Now You Know. While the band's impeccable recorded catalog is the entry point, Built to Spill live is an essential force of it's own: heavy, psychedelic, melodic, and visceral tunes blaring from amps that sound as if they're powered by Mack trucks. Now in 2022, Built to Spill returns with When the Wind Forgets Your Name, Martsch's unbelievably great new album (and his eighth full-length)... with a fresh new label. "I'm psyched: I've wanted to be on Sub Pop since I was a teenager. And I think I'm the first fifty year-old they've ever signed." (The rumors are true, we love quinquagenarians...). So when he needed a new band for shows in Brazil, he asked them, and the partnership went so well Martsch, Almeida, and Casaes continued playing together throughout 2019, touring the US and Europe and ultimately recording the bass and drum tracks for When the Wind Forgets Your Name at Doug's rehearsal space in Boise. After Martsch tracked guitars and vocals, they group collaborated from afar to mix the album. What emerged is When the Wind Forgets Your Name, a complex and cohesive blend of the artists' distinct musical ideas. Alongside Built to Spill's poetic lyrics and themes, the experimentation and attention to detail produces an album full of unique, vivid, and timeless sounds, from guitar-driven rock odes to REM and Dinosaur Jr to bluesy '60s-style anthems to dub-reggae-inspired instrumentation. A product of generations of underground music in L.A. and beyond, The Linda�Lindas� debut, Growing Up, channels classic punk, post punk, power pop, new�wave, and other surprises into timelessly catchy and cool songs sung by all four�members�each with her own style and energy. A handful of cuts have already�been previewed at shows and enthusiastically approved by diehard followers in the�pit at L.A.�s DIY punk institution The Smell and Head in the Cloud festival goers at�The Rose Bowl alike. The Linda Lindas first played together as members of a pickup new wave cover�band of kids assembled by Kristin Kontrol (Dum Dum Girls) for Girlschool LA in�2018 and then formed their own garage punk group just for fun. Sisters Mila de�la Garza (drummer, now 11) and Lucia de la Garza (guitar, 14), cousin Eloise Wong�(bass, 13), and family friend Bela Salazar (guitar, 17) developed their chops as regulars at all-ages matinees in Chinatown, where they played with original L.A. punks like The Dils,�Phranc, and Alley Cats; went on to open for riot grrrl legends Bikini Kill and architect Alice Bag as�well as DIY heavyweights Best Coast and Bleached; and were eventually featured in Amy�Poehler�s movie Moxie.

A month later, when the school year ended and summer began, The Linda Lindas got to work on their first full-length�LP. Having written a mountain of new material individually�while sheltering in place and attending class virtually, the

Lykke LI returns with her fifth studio album EYEYE. The LP is an eight track story about lust, attraction, attachment, and rejection; the landscape of love. The songs are inhabited by moving images that neither start nor end.  Each film functions as a visual loop, concise as a haiku, yet continuing in perpetuity. The result is a somatic, repetitious experience, compounding chapters between a dream and reality.

Breaking a decade of omert�, The Mars Volta reawaken from their lengthy hiatus with an eponymous track that radically reshapes their paradigm. Formed by guitarist/composer Omar Rodr�guez-L�pez and singer/lyricist Cedric Bixler-Zavala, The Mars Volta rose from the ashes of El Paso punk-rock firebrands At The Drive-In in 2001. On a mission to �honour our roots and honour our dead�, The Mars Volta made music that fused the Latin sounds Rodr�guez-L�pez was raised on with the punk and underground noise he and Bixler-Zavala had immersed themselves in for years, and the futuristic visions they were tapping into. The albums that followed were one-of-a-kind masterpieces, their songs of breath-taking complexity also possessing powerful emotional immediacy. After the group fell silent, a legion of devotees (including Kanye West) kept up an insistent drum-beat for their return.

Leyla McCalla's Vari-Colored Songs is a celebration of the complexity of Black culture and identity, and a tribute to the legacy of poet and thinker Langston Hughes. A songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, McCalla sets Hughes' poems to her own spare yet profound compositions. She juxtaposes these with arrangements of folk songs from Haiti, the first independent Black nation and the homeland of her parents, tapping into the nuances of Black experience. McCalla's music elegantly weaves Haitian influences together with American folk music, just as Hughes incorporated Black vernacular into his remarkable poetry, and the way the Haitian Krey�l is a beacon for the survival of African identity through the brutal legacy of colonialism. This is music of reclamation, imbued with a quiet power that grapples with the immense weight of history.

As you can probably glean from the title, Bret McKenzie-whom you know from such modern musical treasures as comedy duo Flight of the Conchords, the Muppets movie reboots and other ace kid-film soundtracks, Lord of the Rings fan blogs, guest songs for The Simpsons, cycling around the streets in his native New Zealand, and more- has a new solo record coming out filled with songs that ARE NOT COMEDY SONGS! There. Doesn't that feel better? Sometimes it helps just to get it out in the open. So, yeah, Bret's a ridiculously funny dude, and you might even call him one of the best comedy songwriters in the biz. (In Bret's own words, there are fewer than a dozen people in the world writing comedy songs today, but who's counting?) He's had smash hits, he's won major awards, he's the better-dressed part of his duo... he's got a good thing going! So, what gives with this whole "songs without jokes" solo stuff, man? The Conchords landed McKenzie and Jemaine Clement a hit HBO TV show, a BBC Radio series, chart-topping records, world tours, a Best Comedy Album Grammy, and a 2018 "reunion" special. McKenzie transitioned to Hollywood, writing songs for 2011's The Muppets (winning a Best Original Song Oscar for "Man or Muppet"), 2014's Muppets Most Wanted, and films in the Pirates! And Dora canons. While he enjoyed and excelled at the work, he wondered where his songs might go if set free of all that plot-bound specificity. And so, while in Los Angeles a few years back, recording movie music with a crack assemblage of legendary session musicians, McKenzie started playing around with a tune or two he had written simply as songs-songs without any external direction, songs without plot-pushing concerns, songs without jokes. The results reveal McKenzie's talents on multiple instruments (he's a veteran of several non-comedy bands in New Zealand back in the day, most notably the reggae-based fusion group The Black Seeds), and his affinity for wry, literate artists like Harry Nilsson, Steely Dan, Randy Newman and Dire Straits. Written mostly during the quieter moments of 2019, with his life split between work in Los Angeles and his family in Wellington, the songs of Songs focus on themes of escape, the perpetual search for peace, and navigating a life being pulled in multiple directions at once. There are also simple meditations on driving through a city, and the weather. McKenzie was inspired by the path icons like Newman and Nilsson had paved, where a silly or playful number could be sandwiched directly between a song about heartbreak or an earnest redemption and a scathing satire or character commentary. He threw a bit of everything into the mix, recording ideas on his phone at home in New Zealand after the kids had gone to sleep. Back in LA, he fine-tuned the songs with his longtime producer and collaborator, Mickey Petralia, and longtime film collaborator Chris Caswell created charts for that same ensemble of session players with whom they'd recorded so many pieces for film. The majority of songs were then recorded at United Studio in Los Angeles in just a few takes. While the album may be free of traditional punch lines, it doesn't lack a sense of humor. It showcases a new stage of McKenzie's career, to be sure, but one that isn't so far removed from his past work and true artistic self. Like Jim Henson before him, who made a career of blending the silly with the sincere and the playful with the profound, McKenzie also aims to connect rainbows to the ridiculous.

Mt. Joy�s star rose quickly from a bedroom project to a well-oiled machine dubbed �your new folk-rock heroes� by Rolling Stone upon the 2018 release of their self-titled debut record. That same year and beyond, millions of streams piled up month after month, and sold-out crowds sang along to every song and grew in number with every tour and festival stop they made. 2020 holds no fewer big moments on the road for the band, who are starting out the year touring arenas with The Lumineers, and following it up with a substantial headlining run of their own, including stops at Lollapalooza, Hangout Festival, and Bonnaroo, and two nights at Red Rocks. Opener "I'm Your Wreck" describes "monsters in (the) closet, using up the wi-fi" as it cycles from it's desperate, spiraling verses to it's swinging, stubbornly optimistic coda, while the loping, plaintive chords of "Younger Days" meditate on a frayed psyche and the fear of choosing the wrong path. "Sheep," with it's collapsing, hoarse-voiced cry of "freedom was paid in blood," is a post-Trump salvo on the responsibilities of the fortunate to overcome political and social despondency. "Astrovan" is a warm, yearning bit of road-trip philosophy that posits the existence of a Deadhead Jesus cruising the dusty highways of the countryside. And on "Silver Lining," perhaps the album's brightest moment, Quinn surveys the damage of hard drugs and the vicious cycle of addiction, as the song's melancholic sentiment kicks into it's fervid, defiant chorus, all shout-along vocals and trilling guitars.
